Latimer’s Landing

Latimer’s Landing

Ahoy Recreational Boaters!

Latimer’s Landing is a Mason County Park featuring a recently renovated boat launch and dock
that provides easy access to Pickering Passage, Puget Sound and beyond. In 2008, Mason
County renovated the facilities by building a new boat ramp, extending the ramp for better use
at low tides.

Latimer’s Landing County Park was developed in 1968 by a Mason County citizens committee which raised $7,000
toward the purchase. The group was led by Mason County resident Jim Latimer and was
originally called the Pickering-Harstine Boat Launch. Community members later filed a petition
to have the name of the park changed to Latimer’s Landing.

Latimer’s Landing County Park itself is approximately three acres but only .59 acres of the site is currently developed.
The site features a boat launch, dock, gangway and parking for about 10-12 vehicles and
trailers. In 2008 Mason County with help from the Cascade Land Conservancy purchased 2.4
acres right next to Latimer’s Landing with the goal of using the new land to expand the park.
Through three grants from Washington State Boating Facilities the park will add additional
parking for up to 30 boats and trailers, have improved beach and water access and picnic sites.
